Deirdre Power, MSN, FNP-C, IBCLC

Nurse Practitioner located in Walnut Creek, CA

About Deirdre Power

I’m originally from New Zealand and completed my registered nurse education there, then later worked as a nurse in Canada and America. After working in these countries and various rural and urban settings I settled in beautiful Oakland, working as a labor, delivery and maternity nurse. I then became board certified as a lactation consultant and eventually decided to advocate for my patients by becoming a nurse practitioner.

As a woman, I know that seeking obstetric and gynecological health care can be a vulnerable experience, so helping patients feel welcomed and building a trusting relationship with them is vitally important to me.

It is an honor to hear my patient’s stories and support them with information, resources and services on their life journey.

Women are individuals with unique perspectives and goals so I listen carefully to understand their needs and engage in shared decision making to achieve those goals.

When I’m not thinking about women’s health I spend time with my husband, cat and dog, cooking, socializing and caring for my garden.

I am privileged to practice my passion for working in reproductive, obstetric and gynecological health at Timothy A. Leach MD, where diversity is the norm and delivering excellent care is a continual priority.
