SculpSure is a noninvasive fat loss procedure that eliminates excess fat cells in the abdominal area, flank, and other problem areas. Patients can expect to have a customized treatment depending on where they have excess fat that isn’t going away with diet and exercise. The number of treatment sessions that patients will end up requiring for optimal fat loss depends on how much fat they need to lose or how many different areas they need to lose fat from.
SculpSure is designed to deliver laser energy to targeted areas of the body. The laser heats up fat cells in these areas, but it doesn’t affect the surface of the skin. The heated fat cells are damaged and removed from the body via the lymphatic system. These fat cells are permanently removed, although patients should note that new fat cells can grow in these areas.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared SculpSure as a noninvasive method of fat loss in problem areas. Patients who have this procedure done shouldn’t feel any pain during treatment. At the beginning of this treatment, patients should experience a cooling feeling on the targeted area of the body. This helps prevent patients from feeling heat from the laser energy. As the laser cycles throughout the treatment, patients might feel some warmth or a tingling feeling.
Patients who are considered good candidates for SculpSure are those who want or need to get rid of excess folds or rolls in certain parts of the body. These are typically problem areas that retain fat cells, even with a strict diet and regular physical activity, such as the love handles and flank. Dr. Leach offers free consultations with each patient to determine if they’re suitable candidates for SculpSure.
Some patients begin seeing fat loss results just 6 weeks after having SculpSure done. For many patients, the most effective results show up roughly 12 weeks after treatment as the body continues getting rid of damaged fat cells. Patients should follow a healthy diet and get regular exercise to lower the risk of new fat cells develop in the treated areas.
